Am Law 100 firm Polsinelli has continued to grow the firm’s Texas presence with the additions of Shareholder Liz N. Boydston, who jointly offices in Dallas and Houston, and Shareholder Edward T. Laborde, Jr., who is based in Houston. Boydston comes to the firm from K&L Gates, while Laborde will join Polsinelli from the Houston office of Dentons.
Boydston joins the firm’s Bankruptcy & Restructuring practice group, where she focuses on Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases, adversary proceedings, fraudulent transfers, preference litigation and the sales of substantially all assets, receiverships and workouts throughout the U.S. Her experience includes representing for-profit and nonprofit hospitals, municipalities, senior housing centers, health care providers, financial institutions, independent contractors, and large multinational and multi-subsidiary corporations in complex restructuring and insolvency matters. Boydston will also serve as a member of Polsinelli’s cross-disciplinary Distressed Health Care practice group.
“With her diverse industry experience, Liz brings a valuable perspective to our Bankruptcy & Restructuring and Distressed Health Care practice groups,” said John Duncan, chair of the firm’s Financial Services Division within Polsinelli’s Real Estate & Financial Services Department, and leader of the firm’s national Real Estate Finance practice group. “She has earned a well-deserved reputation for legal excellence, including accolades from prominent professional groups and media, and has spoken and published extensively on bankruptcy- and restructuring-related topics, further demonstrating the informed insights she can provide on a daily basis to Polsinelli’s clients.”
Actively involved in the community and numerous professional organizations, Boydston has held leadership roles in the International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation, Dallas Bar Association Bankruptcy Section, Turnaround Management Association, DFW Association of Young Bankruptcy Lawyers and ABI Healthcare Committee, among others.
Boydston earned her J.D., cum laude, from the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law and previously completed her B.A. at Baylor University.
Laborde joins Polsinelli’s Corporate and Transactional practice group, where he advises a wide range of business enterprises in connection with mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, capital raising, reorganizations and other complex commercial transactions. He draws on over 25 years of corporate transactional experience, including five years as general counsel, secretary and board member of a publicly owned, for-profit health services company, to inform his service as a trusted advisor to many boards of directors, executive management teams and investors.
“Ed’s decades of highly relevant work as both an outside legal advisor and an in-house counsel will benefit our clients immensely, as he understands transactions from all sides of the table,” said Jon Henderson, managing partner of Polsinelli’s Dallas office and chair of the firm’s national Corporate and Transactional practice group. “His industry experience is certainly well-aligned with Polsinelli’s strategic focuses on key sectors, and we are confident that his presence in our growing Houston office will bring new opportunities for Polsinelli to support business clients across this dynamic region.”
Laborde completed his J.D., cum laude, at Tulane University Law School and previously earned his B.S., cum laude, from Georgetown University.
Polsinelli’s Texas offices, with more than 70 professionals in Dallas and Houston, have grown by tenfold in less than a decade.
