Following Shearman & Sterling’s recent expansion in Texas with a new Dallas office, the firm is welcoming two more partners, Ann Marie Cowdrey and Nathan Meredith, to the team. They join the firm from Thompson & Knight.
Ann Marie’s practice focuses on private equity, including fund formation, structuring investments in portfolio companies and advising on mergers and acquisitions, strategic recapitalizations and initial public offerings.
Nathan’s practice is focused on mergers and acquisitions and private equity transactions with a particular emphasis on upstream and midstream oil and gas. He regularly represents clients in connection with acquisitions and divestitures, portfolio company investments, joint ventures and private equity funding arrangements.
We believe their expertise will be highly complementary to our growing private equity presence in Texas and globally, especially in the energy and infrastructure industries.
“Ann Marie and Nathan are a perfect fit for our Dallas team and will be key in our overall global expansion in private equity. Dallas itself is quickly becoming a major private equity hub, with hundreds of firms headquartered there. Moreover, their expertise in energy and infrastructure will be a great complement to our Houston-based and global energy teams,” said David Beveridge, Senior Partner at Shearman & Sterling.
Ann Marie and Nathan will join Financial Restructuring & Insolvency practice partners Luckey McDowell and Ian Roberts, who joined us last year; and Tax practice partner Ryan Bray, who recently moved to Texas from our Menlo Park office. They are joined by Scott Cohen, Alain Dermarkar and Robert Cardone, who recently arrived at the firm from Jones Day.
Shearman & Sterling opened its Austin office in March 2018 and its Houston office in May 2018 and now has over 60 lawyers in Texas, including 25 partners. The firm has 24 offices worldwide.
