Holland & Hart Welcomes Matt Smith to the Firm’s Commercial Litigation Practice

Holland & Hart LLP is pleased to announce the addition of Matt Smith to the firm’s commercial and securities litigation practices. Smith is a partner based out of the firm’s Denver office.

Smith counsels clients through virtually all aspects of litigation, with an emphasis on financial services and securities matters. He represents public and private companies and their officers and directors, issuers, broker-dealers, investment banks, and individuals in both commercial and securities-related disputes. He has experience handling cases regarding auction rate securities, Regulation SHO, accounting fraud, market manipulation, suitability, unauthorized trading, and employment matters.

Smith regularly represents clients in proceedings before governmental and self-regulatory organizations, including the SEC, the Colorado Division of Securities, FINRA, and the New York Stock Exchange. He also conducts internal investigations of alleged misconduct for companies and represents individuals in such investigations.

In addition, Smith is experienced in representing clients involving corporate governance disputes, fiduciary breaches, fraud, trademark infringement claims, class actions, and various other commercial matters.

Smith is currently an Associates Board member of the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Denver, a member of the Quality Control and Patient Safety Council of the Children’s Hospital Colorado and a former member and volunteer of the Parent Advisory Council of the Children’s Hospital Colorado. He also sat on the Board of Governors for the Denver Chamber Economic Development Corporation from 2010 to 2013.

He holds a J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, and a B.S. from the University of Colorado.
