Butler, Snow, O’Mara, Stevens & Cannada, PLLC (Butler Snow) has expanded into the Denver market with the opening of a new office that will specialize in all aspects of new markets tax and public finance, strengthening the firm’s growing Public Finance & Incentives Group nationally.
As part of the Denver expansion, Thane R. Hodson and A. Ann Hered have joined Butler Snow’s Public Finance & Incentives Group, and bring a wealth of complex new markets tax credit and equity financing experience to the firm.

Hodson’s practice is focused on a full range of federal state and income tax matters – especially complex new markets tax credit financing, upper-tier lending arrangements and equity financing. He previously served as a senior staff attorney with the SEC’s Division of Corporation Finance. Hodson received his Juris Doctorate from Washburn University, and completed his bachelor’s degree at University of Kansas. He is a member of the Kansas Bar Association, Colorado Bar Association and the U.S. Tax Court.
Hered concentrates on federal tax issues, new markets tax credits and complex financing and transactions. She has participated in the structuring of complex NMTC transactions using nontraditional sources of leverage (including Qualified School Construction Bonds and loans under the HUD 108 program). Hered has represented clients on mixed-use development, green construction, distributed solar, and charter schools. She received her Juris Doctorate from Cornell University, and completed her bachelor’s degree at Rice University. She is a member of the New York Bar Association and Colorado Bar Association.
