Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck continues to expand its intellectual property team with the addition of S. Craig Hemenway as a shareholder plus 12 members of his team. With a deep background in both patent law and engineering, Hemenway and his team will counsel clients on many aspects of intellectual property from identification, protection and management of intellectual property assets to preparing and prosecuting patent applications, enforcing intellectual property rights through litigation and providing infringement and patentability opinions. Hemenway was previously a partner at Dorsey & Whitney where he led the Denver patent group.
Hemenway joins recent new partner Robert Rothstein, also from Dorsey, in expanding Brownstein’s existing intellectual property team. In fact, this summer the firm has added a total of 13 new people to its intellectual property team—including Rothstein and Hemenway. The firm will continue to grow the group in an effort to provide complex transactional and litigation intellectual property services to its clients.

Hemenway’s diverse intellectual property practice focuses on assisting clients with the development of strategies that enable them to leverage intellectual property assets to achieve prominence in their markets. He works with a variety of companies from startups to Fortune 100 companies and multinational corporations that span across industries including computer manufacturers, personal health and hygiene companies, domestic animal product manufacturers, telecommunications providers, financial product developers, cable content providers and broadband companies.

Prior to Dorsey, Hemenway practiced as a control systems engineer for Bechtel. He worked on various projects at the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site. He received his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and his law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law.
