Perkins Coie is pleased to announce that Kester Spindler has joined the firm’s Denver and New York offices as a Partner in the Private Equity practice. He joins the firm from Kirkland & Ellis LLP’s New York-based private equity group.
Spindler will focus his practice on a wide range of complex U.S. and international transactions, representing sponsors, companies and financial institutions in mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, leveraged buy-outs, recapitalizations, restructurings, reorganizations, going-private transactions, joint ventures, commercial contracts and related corporate matters. He also regularly represents portfolio companies of private equity clients with respect to all their corporate needs, including add-on acquisitions, divestitures and equity and debt financings.
“Kester is an experienced transactional attorney who will deepen Perkins’ firm-wide strength in both U.S. and global M&A and private equity matters,” said Jim Cruger, Chair of the Private Equity practice. “The broad array of capabilities Kester brings to the firm will further expand the breadth and depth of the practice following the recent addition of private equity partners Bruce Zivian and Dennis Peterson in Chicago.”
Spindler’s practice covers a broad range of industries, including healthcare, retail, consumer products, media, manufacturing, financial services, insurance, energy, software and technology. He is admitted to practice as a solicitor in England and Wales and is a fluent German speaker. Spindler earned his J.D. from Pepperdine University School of Law and his B.S. in Accounting from Liberty University.
As the Private Equity practice continues to grow, Spindler’s addition closely follows behind Bruce Zivian and Dennis Peterson, who joined the firm in Chicago as Partners from K&L Gates. The Perkins Coie Private Equity group has a leading practice in the representation of private equity funds and firms. Attorneys are experienced in all types of private equity transactions, from industry consolidations to leveraged buyouts of private and public companies. The practice emphasizes middle-market transactions, typically involving companies with enterprise values up to $1 billion. In addition, the firm has a substantial practice dedicated to structuring and forming private equity funds, hedge funds, venture capital funds and real estate funds, and advising fund sponsors in connection with formations.
