Burleson LLP announced today that nine attorneys from McGloin, Davenport, Severson & Snow PC have joined the firm in Denver in a move that will extend Burleson’s national presence, further strengthen its core oil and gas platform, and broaden the skills and services offered by the firm.
McGloin Davenport has a rich tradition in the Denver area that dates back 40 years. The firm has established itself in a range of practices in multiple industry sectors, and has earned a reputation for building and sustaining long-term relationships with clients in the business community throughout Colorado and beyond.
Seven senior partners and two associates are joining Burleson: Michael M. McGloin, Gary C. Davenport, Robert M. Severson, Ronald J. Snow, John A. Murray, Krista L. Tushar, J. Randolph Earnest, Kyle W. Davenport, and Karl D. Kaesemeyer. They concentrate their practices in a wide range of areas including commercial litigation, with an emphasis on oil and gas law; oil and gas transactions; corporate; tax; estate planning; antitrust; and real estate.
The addition of the McGloin Davenport attorneys brings to 41 the number of attorneys in Burleson’s Denver office. The expansion marks the latest step in Burleson’s growth, which in recent years has seen the opening of new offices across the country to serve the growing demands of companies with interests in U.S. shale plays, making Burleson the largest law firm in the country that focuses on energy.

Gary C. Davenport concentrates his practice in complex commercial litigation with an emphasis in oil and gas law. He has extensive experience litigating before state and federal courts and arbitrating commercial disputes, and his clients have included Fortune 500 companies, closely held companies, and entrepreneurs. Davenport has been involved in a number of significant cases and achieved outcomes ranging from $8 to $25 million for judgments in complex oil and gas, securities, and partnership cases.
Kyle W. Davenport is a litigator who is experienced in representing clients in matters related to oil and gas law and general business. He also advises clients on a wide range of compliance issues with federal, state, and local laws and regulations. In the area of oil and gas and natural resource law, Davenport has represented individuals and businesses, including royalty owners, producers, land men, and leaseholders, in virtually every phase of the production and sale of oil and gas properties. His experience includes representing clients with operations in Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, Utah, Nevada, Kansas, and Texas.
J. Randolph Earnest has broad practice experience in real estate development; corporate, partnership, and LLC law; tax law; automobile industry law and regulation; and estate planning and probate. His corporate, partnership, and LLC practice is diverse and includes forming and financing business entities, counseling clients on tax and operational matters, and preparing contracts and related documents. In the area of commercial real estate, he has represented buyers, sellers, developers, landlords, tenants, lenders and borrowers in all phases of real estate ownership and development.
Karl D. Kaesemeyer focuses his practice on all aspects of business, commercial, natural resource, construction, landlord/tenant, and real estate litigation. He has represented individuals and businesses in oil and gas disputes as well as owners of commercial property in eviction matters, lease disputes, defense of premises liability claims, and other commercial matters. Kaesemeyer has also represented general contractors and subcontractors in a variety of cases including contract disputes, mechanic lien perfection, foreclosure, and construction defect claims.
Michael M. McGloin, who focuses his practice in litigation, has extensive experience representing a number of clients, from large, publicly traded companies to small- to mid-sized businesses in a wide array of industries. He has appeared before courts throughout the United States, including state and federal courts in more than 20 states. McGloin specializes in complex commercial litigation and has a broad background in a variety of areas, including antitrust, insurance coverage, construction, telecommunications, contracts, and business torts.
John A. Murray works in all areas of business and transactions. He is particularly experienced in oil and gas transactions and title opinions; commercial and residential real estate, including acquisitions, finance and development, leasing, common interest communities, condominiums, and conversions; and entity formations, including LLCs, corporations, and partnerships.
Robert M. Severson is a transactional attorney whose background includes working as an Estate and Gift Tax Attorney for the Internal Revenue Service. His years of legal practice and extensive knowledge of the tax code make him well qualified to address clients’ needs in the areas of corporate and taxation law as well as estate planning. He has represented a wide range of business entities as well as many individuals and estates requiring estate plans and probate.
Ronald J. Snow concentrates his practice on complex real estate and commercial transactions. His background also includes corporate transactions, business planning, corporate and entity structuring, formation, negotiation and documentation of investments and financing, and all aspects of real estate matters.
Krista L. Tushar is an experienced litigator who is well-versed in a wide range of areas. She has handled oil and gas disputes for a number of individuals and businesses, including royalty owners, producers, geologists, drilling companies, and leaseholders. Her background also includes disputes over the interpretation of oil and gas assignments, oil and gas partnership agreements, working interest ownership and participation agreements, purchase and sale agreements, joint operating agreements, right-to-buy and compensation agreements, and many other oil and gas related matters covering interests in Colorado, Montana, Wyoming, and Utah.
