Fox Rothschild LLP is pleased to announce that four attorneys have joined the firm’s Intellectual Property Department. This major acquisition of talent comprises a group of three attorneys in New York and one attorney in Denver.
Based in the New York office are partners William R. Hansen and Bridget A. Short, along with Suzanna M. M. Morales, who will join as counsel. Partner William A. Rudy is based in the Denver office.
In New York, the addition of the three-decade law veteran Hansen, along with Short and Morales, follows the recent arrival of partners Paul Labov (Bankruptcy), Perla Kuhn (Intellectual Property), Mitchel Hill (Real Estate) and Alan Friedman (Entertainment). “Fox’s New York office has welcomed seven attorneys in less than one year,” said New York Office Managing Partner Michael I. Slapo. “This growth is a tangible sign of the continued deepening of our New York-based practices and a harbinger of Fox’s ongoing commitment to strategic growth in New York.”
In Denver, notable IP litigation attorney Rudy augments Fox’s western-based practice not only with his years of handling complex litigation matters, but also through his background in chemical engineering and resulting focus on sophisticated intellectual property law involving the intersection of chemistry and health research.

William R. Hansen: A veteran intellectual property attorney with more than 35 years of experience, Hansen regularly serves as lead counsel in intellectual property matters for both U.S. and international companies on cases under the U.S. Lanham Act, including trademark infringement, false advertising, patent and copyright infringement. In addition to his intellectual property litigation work, he regularly provides counsel on all aspects of trademarks and copyrights, including cases before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, trademark clearance and protection of copyrighted works. Hansen earned his J.D. from Washington and Lee University School of Law and his A.B., magna cum laude, from Dartmouth College.
Bridget A. Short: An experienced intellectual property attorney, Short focuses her practice on the oversight, protection and enforcement of intellectual property assets. She also assists clients in managing both domestic and international trademark portfolios. Short advises and assists clients in the development, maintenance and protection of their brands in a wide variety of industries, including fashion and luxury goods, insurance, education and consumer products. She represents clients in multiclaim actions, including trademark and trade dress infringement, copyright infringement, unfair competition and false advertising. Additionally, she counsels clients on trademark and copyright matters, including clearance of trademarks, trademark trial and appeal board opposition and cancellation proceedings and IP audits, and due diligence investigations. Short earned her J.D., cum laude, from Pace University School of Law and her B.A. from Skidmore College.
Suzanna M. M. Morales: Morales represents clients in a wide array of intellectual property litigation and trademark prosecution. She counsels clients on trademark clearance and prosecution, from application through post-registration, including opposition and cancellation proceedings. Morales believes her clients’ brands are among their most important assets, and takes pride in helping them build and protect those brands. Morales earned her J.D., cum laude, from Fordham University School of Law and her B.A., magna cum laude, from George Washington University.
William A. Rudy: The former chair of Lathrop & Gage’s Intellectual Property Division, and a member of the firms’ executive committee, Rudy has experience handling complex intellectual property litigation. With a background in chemical engineering, he possesses an in-depth understanding of his clients’ intellectual property assets. Rudy has extensive experience in patent litigation, licensing and prosecution in the areas of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) used to amplify and detect the presence of targeted genes, Alzheimer’s disease genetics and therapeutics, fluorescent protein and its related genetics, phosphate/phosphite, agrochemistry and glucose test strip technology. Rudy earned his J.D. from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law and his B.S. in Chemical Engineering, cum laude, from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
