Lewis Brisbois is pleased to welcome Jeffrey H. McClelland to its Denver office as a partner in the firm’s Labor & Employment Practice. Mr. McClelland, who has more than a decade of experience counseling employers on an array of legal issues and handling complex litigation, joins Lewis Brisbois from an international labor and employment firm. He regularly represents employers in state and federal court as well as before administrative agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Colorado Civil Rights Division. In addition to litigating matters involving federal and state employment laws, Mr. McClelland advises employers of all sizes regarding employee pay and timekeeping practices, workplace policies, employee training, and employee discipline. McClelland arrives from Fisher & Phillips LLP.
Prior to entering the legal profession, Mr. McClelland spent more than 10 years in the business world, where he worked as a financial analyst for a Fortune 100 technology company and as a product manager at technology start-ups. He also co-owned an online fastener distributorship.
In discussing his decision to join Lewis Brisbois, Mr. McClelland described, “I always considered Lewis Brisbois to be one of a handful of Am Law 100 firms that had a strong practice in the labor and employment area. So, this was a very exciting opportunity at a great firm with a vibrant practice. I am looking forward to working with the team to realize tremendous opportunities in Denver.” Mr. McClelland also noted that his unique experience in a business environment early in his career taught him “strong values and principles about how a team can be at its best.” He explained, “I carried a lot of those lessons from my business career forward into my legal career.”
Chair of Lewis Brisbois’ Labor & Employment Practice Elior Shiloh noted, “We are thrilled that Jeff has joined the practice. Colorado is such an important market and Jeff’s unique background in both law and business will benefit our clients across the board. In addition to being well-positioned to achieve clients’ objectives from a legal standpoint, Jeff’s extensive business experience allows him to advise clients on employment practices that will best serve their business needs.”
Denver Managing Partner Todd Seelman stated, “It is great to have Jeff on board. With a proven track record of success and significant experience practicing throughout the Denver metropolitan area, he certainly will be an asset to our team and to our clients. We look forward to working with him.”
Mr. McClelland earned his law degree from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and his undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Denver. He is admitted to practice in state and federal courts in Colorado, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Colorado, federal court in North Dakota, and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit.
