Prominent real estate lawyer Robert P. Detrick has joined Am Law 100 firm Polsinelli. Detrick is one of more than 20 attorneys the firm announced have joined the Denver office already this year. Coming to Polsinelli from Husch Blackwell, Detrick has counseled clients from the United States, Canada, and Fiji.
Focusing on master planned communities, resort, and mixed use projects, Detrick has been involved in dozens of high-profile real estate development projects, including resort developments at Keystone Resort and Copper Mountain Resort in Colorado; organizing and creating master planned communities such as Mesa del Sol, New Mexico, Turtle Bay Resort, Hawaii, and The Village at Winter Park, Colorado; and, helping with the development, joint venturing, construction, and leasing of large health care facilities, such as St. Joseph’s Hospital in Denver.
“Bob is a welcome addition to our nationally-recognized real estate practice here at Polsinelli where we are focused on partnering with our clients in meaningful ways to create vibrant, sustainable communities,” said Amy Hansen, shareholder and real estate practice chair at Polsinelli.
Detrick helps clients navigate legal issues impacting the development and growth of their real estate portfolios. He implements a practical, business-focused approach, and in addition to providing legal guidance, often assists his clients with complex, strategic business planning and large-scale marketing and sales programs for resort real estate. He partners with clients throughout the life cycle of large developments, including parcel assemblage, planning and entitlements, construction, sale, leasing, and operation.
“Through his involvement in many notable projects across the country, Bob has left his mark on communities and improved access for millions to housing, health care, places of worship, and world-class resorts,” said Polsinelli’s Denver Office Managing Partner Jennifer Roberts.
Detrick creates innovative planned unit developments, including those incorporating new-urbanist and form-based regulatory models. His experience includes leading large development teams through annexations and complex entitlement approvals. He has also negotiated many development and vested rights agreements, and has substantial experience negotiating surface use agreements with oil and gas operators.
