James E. Baiers was a member of Clark Hill from 1979 through 1996. He then went into the private sector and became the Chief Legal Officer for one of the countries largest publicly traded professional employer organizations with over 30,000 employees under contract. In that position he was responsible for all of the company’s legal matters including SEC filings, government compliance, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions and litigation.
While at Clark Hill, Mr. Baiers was a member of the Litigation Practice Group and is an experienced trial lawyer in state and federal courts in such matters as employment actions, breach of contract suits, product liability cases and commercial matters.
With over 10 years of experience in the staffing industry, Mr. Baiers specializes in representing firms in this business and employers who use their services. This includes all aspects of the staffing relationship including contract preparation and review, sales commission agreements and disputes, employment advice and litigation, regulatory compliance, and mergers and acquisitions.
Mr. Baiers is a former adjunct professor of law at Henry Ford Community College, the State Bar of Michigan Grievance Committee, Vice President of the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Foundation and President of the Detroit Golf Club. He currently acts as a panel member for the Michigan Attorney Discipline Board. He is admitted to practice in Michigan and before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan and the U. S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. He is the author of “Statutes of Limitations in Michigan”, published in the Detroit College of Law Review .
