Following on from the addition of new partners in its Athens, London and New York offices in 2015, Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) is pleased to welcome experienced corporate lawyer Suhail Mirza as a partner in its Dubai office. Suhail’s diverse practice covers the full spectrum of corporate and commercial work, including cross-border M&A, strategic joint ventures and corporate restructuring. He joins the firm from K&L Gates.
Suhail has had considerable exposure to the Middle Eastern market, having worked in Dubai since 2008. He advises clients active in the infrastructure, utilities, transport, telecoms, retail and financial sectors, and is the first lateral hire for WFW Dubai, after the firm opened its fourteenth office in the UAE in September 2014. He also advises a number of Indian clients investing in the region and adds strength to the firm’s Dubai office, where his corporate practice will complement the firm’s existing finance practice in the Middle East, headed up by partner Andrew Baird.
WFW Head of Dubai Andrew Baird, said: “Suhail is a great addition to the Dubai office and the firm as a whole. He fits in well with our entrepreneurial culture and the exceptional work he has done in the retail sector in particular, will help us grow our client base beyond our core sectors of expertise.”
WFW Managing Partner Chris Lowe added: “Suhail’s arrival is an endorsement of the great work Andrew and his team have done in Dubai and of the firm’s decision to open an office in Dubai to help service our clients in the wider Middle Eastern region. It also speaks to the firm’s wider strategy of developing our services capabilities in our core sectors.”
Suhail Mirza said: “WFW has made great strides in the Dubai and wider Middle Eastern market in a very short time and the firm’s ambition, coupled with its outstanding existing platform in its core sectors offers a great opportunity for me to expand my client base and practice.”
