Dechert LLP is pleased to announce that Hamish Walton has joined the firm’s corporate and securities group as a partner in Dubai. He was previously a partner at another international firm.
Walton has more than twenty-five years of experience counseling domestic and cross-border clients on high-profile corporate matters, and is consistently recognized as one of the region’s top corporate and M&A attorneys by Chambers Global and The Legal 500. He advises corporates, government organizations, private equity houses and financial institutions on a wide range of public and private transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity, equity capital markets, corporate governance and employee incentives.
“Hamish has one of the top-ranked corporate practices in the region and we are so excited he has decided to join Dechert,” said Camille Abousleiman, international capital markets and corporate finance partner. “We are committed to making strategic team additions that strengthen Dechert’s global corporate practice on behalf of current and prospective clients.”
Walton marks the latest in a series of high-profile lateral corporate partners to move to Dechert and join the firm’s expanding global corporate and finance platforms. Over the past year, private equity and finance partner John Markland and corporate private equity partner Ross Allardice joined Dechert’s London office from Kirkland & Ellis and White & Case, respectively; Laurent Faugerolas, a corporate partner who was with Weil Gotshal Manges before forming his own firm also joined Dechert in London in addition to Paul Fleming, a bankruptcy partner from DLA Piper. Also confirmed recently, Philip Butler and David Miles will join the firm’s Global Finance team in London from DLA Piper in early December.
“Hamish is a respected lawyer with an impressive background advising clients in the Middle East and North Africa,” said Gavin Watson and Chris P. Sioufi, co-managing partners of Dechert’s office in Dubai. “His addition to the Dechert team in Dubai further strengthens our commitment to serve clients in the region and we are proud to welcome him to the partnership.”
Walton regularly represents clients on complex issues arising across a broad spectrum of industry sectors, including telecommunications, media, leisure, real estate and infrastructure.
A graduate of the University of Melbourne (B.Comm, LLB, and Graduate Diploma – Corporations and Securities Laws, 1991), Walton is admitted as a solicitor in Victoria, Australia and England and Wales.
