Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP is pleased to announce the expansion of its global energy and infrastructure practice with the addition of James D. Simpson Jr. and Jason Parker as partners in the firm’s London office and Martin Skehill as special counsel in its Dubai office. Simpson, Parker, and Skehill joined the firm from Winston & Strawn, where Simpson and Parker were partners and Skehill was counsel; Simpson also was co-chair of its project finance practice. They will be joined by associates.
While Hunton Andrews Kurth works to assist its clients and colleagues worldwide during the pandemic, the firm continues to execute on its strategic plan, including strengthening its key practices in priority industry sectors and geographic regions.
“Jim, Jason and Martin help round out our global team, which is very busy right now, and they bring key experience advising clients on a wide range of significant international projects,” said Jeffrey P. Schroeder, co-head of Hunton Andrews Kurth’s energy and infrastructure practice. “Their addition enhances the capabilities of our firm’s broad-based energy team in London and the Middle East.”
Simpson regularly advises sponsors, lenders, infrastructure funds, equity investors and governments on major renewable energy, infrastructure, LNG-to-power, oil and gas, telecommunications, and other projects worldwide. Based in Europe since 1992, he has considerable privatization and transactional experience in the Middle East, Central and Eastern Europe, Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States, and Africa.
Parker’s practice focuses on the energy, petrochemical, manufacturing, and infrastructure development sectors, largely in the Middle East and Africa, with additional experience in North America. A former engineer for a leading nuclear reactor supplier, Parker also possesses deep knowledge of the nuclear industry and nuclear regulatory matters, regularly assisting clients with developing new nuclear power programs.
Skehill advises a range of entities, including sponsors, project companies, lenders, and government procurers on energy, water, wastewater, oil and gas, and social infrastructure projects in the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.
Simpson received his undergraduate degree from Duke University and his law degree from Washington and Lee University School of Law. Parker received his undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University and a dual MBA/law degree from Case Western Reserve University.
