We are pleased to announce that international arbitration specialist Celine Abi Habib Kanakri has joined our Dubai office as a partner. Joining from Baker McKenzie Habib Al Mulla, Celine’s practice is focused on complex UAE and international arbitration across a range of industry sectors.
Lebanese qualified, Kanakri has been practising in the UAE for 13 years across real estate, commercial and construction disputes. She has considerable experience of UAE corporate, civil and commercial law and has been involved in drafting several UAE decrees, laws and regulations, as well as training materials for the Dubai Legal Affairs Department.
This appointment will be a boost to our existing capability in Dubai, providing clients with additional expert arbitration advice, covering both Arabic and English arbitrations and in-depth knowledge of the local court judicial system.
Peter Ellingham, partner and head of our Dubai office, says: “Celine is an important strategic hire for us as we continue to grow our presence in the Middle East. By welcoming her into our Dubai team we broaden our arbitration service, in addition to offering expertise on the UAE court system – something that our global client base is increasingly looking for.”
Celine Abi Habib Kanakri says: “This is a great opportunity to join a firm with a growing global footprint and a leading reputation. The combination of my experience in international arbitration, my domestic and international contacts and market knowledge will complement Kennedys’ existing client offering and I am looking forward to working closely with the Dubai team and Kennedys’ global network.”
Our Dubai office was established in 2006 and focuses on insurance, dispute resolution, arbitration, construction, aviation and transport.
