Kennedys boosts Dublin litigation practice with partner hire

We are pleased to announce that we have strengthened our presence in Dublin by hiring insurance litigator and casualty specialist David Strahan from Arthur Cox.

David, who qualified at the Irish Bar before his admission as a solicitor, becomes the fifth partner in our Dublin office.

Specialising in insurance-related disputes for domestic and international insurers and their insureds, David has a significant profile in the contentious insurance market and splits his work between complex insurance disputes, high-volume insurance defence work and standalone commercial disputes for policyholders.

His skills will add to our growing capacity to provide our global and domestic clients with leading advisory and dispute resolution capabilities

His practice complements our Dublin office, where we have one of the largest dedicated insurance offerings in Ireland, specialising in financial institutions, professional liability, directors’ and officers’ liability, property damage, personal injury, transport, motor, healthcare and commercial disputes, among others.

Nick Thomas, senior partner at Kennedys, says: “David’s recruitment is the latest step in our strategic drive to grow our international insurance capabilities. To ensure our clients stay on top of the many challenges they face across the world, we are always looking to grow the breadth and depth of expertise available to them.”

Andrew McGahey, an insurance partner who heads up the Dublin office, says: “I am delighted to welcome David to Kennedys. His skills will add to our growing capacity to provide our global and domestic clients with leading advisory and dispute resolution capabilities and he will strengthen our existing relationships with our global and domestic clients.”

David Strahan adds: “Kennedys is the perfect fit for me given the high quality work it does, the blue-chip clients it has and the strong reputation it enjoys. Kennedys provides the best platform for me to continue to provide my clients with the service they require and to grow and develop the firm’s practice in Ireland. I am really looking forward to being part of the team.”

Our Dublin office has a headcount of 46, comprising five partners, 33 fee earners and eight secretarial and business services staff.
