Global law firm Clyde & Co is pleased to announce it is expanding its European office network by opening an office in Düsseldorf through the hire of two leading insurance partners, Dr Henning Schaloske and Dr Tanja Schramm and insurance counsel, Dr Daniel Kassing.
The five-lawyer team joins from Noerr, a full-service, leading European law firm. Noerr and Clyde & Co have worked closely together for many years and will continue to do so.
The office opening provides Clyde & Co with its first presence in Germany and further enhances its position as the leading global insurance sector law firm.
The team covers a wide range of insurance work including financial and professional lines, property, product liability, cyber, warranty and indemnity and regulatory coverage. It also undertakes defence work, in particular in professional indemnity and product liability matters. The team also acts in relation to general commercial disputes with a focus on domestic and international arbitration work and has strong links with the arbitration specialists in the German market.
Simon Konsta, Global Head of Insurance at Clyde & Co, said: “Germany is one of the world’s most important economies and has an exceptionally strong insurance market supporting its core industries. It has long been a gap in our global network. Having an office in Dusseldorf, in Germany’s industrial heartland and the home of many domestic and international insurers, will enable us to better support our international clients, form deeper ties with our German clients and increase our share of outbound work from Germany.”
Dr Henning Schaloske, who will be heading up the Düsseldorf office, commented: “The landscape of risk is changing. Risks are becoming increasingly interconnected and increasingly global. Against this backdrop insurers need advisors that can offer advice across business lines and across geographies. Clyde & Co is pre-eminent in that space. We’ve known the team for a long time and are delighted to be joining.”
James Burns, Senior Partner at Clyde & Co, added: “The decision to open in a new market is never taken lightly. For us to do so we need to be confident that not only will it benefit our clients but also that we can hire the best lawyers in our chosen sectors. Without doubt that is what Henning, Tanja and the team represent in Germany.”
In addition to Düsseldorf, Clyde & Co has 15 offices across Europe in the UK, France, Spain and Greece. Düsseldorf will launch in the autumn and is the firm’s 46th office.
Earlier this month Clyde & Co opened its sixth US office with the acquisition of a large team in Miami.
