Eversheds Sutherland Further Expands its Energy Practice in Düsseldorf with Dr. Martin Weitenberg

Eversheds Sutherland has significantly expanded its energy practice, with the appointment of Dr. Martin Weitenberg who joins the Düsseldorf office of the law practice as Partner. Martin joins from Clifford Chance, where he gained years of international experience in energy law. He advises national and international businesses and investors with on their  renewable energy and power plant projects, as well as energy infrastructure projects such as electricity and gas networks, energy storage and LNG plants.

His experience includes the preparation and negotiation of contracts as well as regulatory issues including the representation in official proceedings and legal disputes. Energy trade and distribution such as the structuring and negotiation of supply contracts for electricity and gas are another focus of his practice. Martin also advises strategic and financial investors on their transactions in the energy sector.

Martin’s arrival is the latest appointment in the Düsseldorf office, following Werner Brickwedde who started on 01 August 2019, who has already worked on numerous transactions in the energy sector together with Martin Weitenberg and tax lawyer Simon Weppner who joined the practice on 01 September 2019.
With Martin Weitenberg, 20 lawyers now work within the Düsseldorf office, including seven partners and five counsel.
Eversheds Sutherland energy practice in Germany is part of the global Energy & Infrastructure Sector Group with more than 300 lawyers worldwide. The international team advises with on the acquisition, financing and sale of energy generation plants and networks, with regard to infrastructure projects as well as energy supply and trade.
