Latham & Watkins LLP1 is pleased to announce that Tobias Larisch will join the firm as a partner in the Düsseldorf office. Larisch’s practice focuses on advising leading German and international companies on a variety of complex public and private mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and divestments, with a particular focus on the energy sector. He also counsels senior executives and boards on a variety of corporate governance matters, including complex regulatory and compliance issues.
“Establishing a market-leading strategic M&A practice in Germany is a key priority for the firm,” said Oliver Felsenstein, Office Managing Partner of Latham & Watkins in Germany. “Tobias is one of Germany’s standout M&A practitioners, with a first-rate track-record advising on high-profile transactions. He adds more firepower to our already established and highly talented team in Germany and Europe, and he will be a great fit for our growing practice.”
“Tobias is a nationally-recognized corporate partner, with deep industry expertise and a keen commercial instinct that will be of great value to our strategic M&A practice, particularly in the energy and natural resources sectors where he is widely considered to be among a very short list of preeminent advisors,” adds Rainer Traugott, Global Co-chair of Latham & Watkins’ Mergers & Acquisitions Practice. “His broad practice adds further depth to our public and private M&A capability in Europe and globally, and we are excited to welcome him to the firm.”
“Germany is a key market for the growth of our practice in Europe and is central to our ambitious strategic plans,” adds Marc Jaffe, Chair of Latham’s Global Corporate Department. “Tobias’ expertise is highly complementary to the firm’s practice, and he will further enhance our ability to serve international and domestic companies looking for a world-class platform that can execute complex deals across markets and regulatory regimes. We are delighted to welcome a practitioner of his calibre to Latham.”
Larisch will be the latest high-profile M&A partner to join the firm in Europe, following the arrival of Niko Paschos and Rainer Traugott in Düsseldorf and Munich, respectively, Aldo Piccaretta in Milan, and Ed Barnett in London.
Larisch joins the firm from Freshfields’ Düsseldorf office. He passed his First State Examination at Muenster University in 2002, earning his doctorate in 2003, and passed his Referendariat at the Oberlandesgericht in 2005.
