Global law firm Dentons is strengthening its Energy Regulatory practice in Dusseldorf with the recruitment of Dr. Florian-Alexander Wesche as a partner. With his extensive professional and industry experience, he will consolidate Dentons’ strategic focus on infrastructure and energy in Germany. Florian-Alexander Wesche was previously a partner responsible for energy law at Deloitte Legal.
“After the successful integration of a strong energy and infrastructure team in Berlin last July, Florian-Alexander Wesche will help bridge the team from Berlin and Frankfurt to the Rhine, and strengthen our offering with his deep experience in legally complex regulatory issues, including hot topics such as electromobility,” comments Thomas Schubert, Head of Energy in Germany and Europe Co-Head of the Energy Regulatory group at Dentons.
He advises the clients from the energy industry and energy-intensive industries (including the chemical and automotive sectors), as well as investors on all issues of German and European energy law. He has extensive experience in energy contract law and regulation. In particular, he advises on energy sales, electricity and hydrogen generation projects from conventional and renewable energies, and energy procurement concepts. He also provides comprehensive advice charging concepts in e-mobility. Wesche also has in-depth knowledge of the design and adaptation of energy supply and power plant contracts and all aspects of Germany’s Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG). Most recently, he advised a German car manufacturer on the realization of a large PV plant, a European energy supplier on its coal phase-out, and industrial companies in legal disputes under the EEG.
Andreas Ziegenhagen, Managing Partner Germany: “With his impressive track record in the energy sector, Florian-Alexander Wesche is an excellent match for our strategic priority to expand our Energy and Infrastructure team. He joins following last year’s recruitment ofa transaction-focused team in Berlin and the appointment of regulatory partner Gabriele Haas in Frankfurt.”
Andreas Haak, Düsseldorf Managing Partner, added: “This hire is the next step in our dynamic growth in Dusseldorf and creates strategic synergies with other teams. Florian-Alexander Wesche will work closely with Corporate partner Michael Krömker, who joined us at the beginning of December. We have created an excellent team in Dusseldorf with a great esprit de corps, to which Florian-Alexander will contribute from now on.”
