Latham & Watkins is pleased to announce that Nikolaos Paschos will join the firm as a partner in the Düsseldorf office. Paschos is among Germany’s most experienced M&A practitioners, with vast expertise advising multinational companies and boards on complex mergers and acquisitions, including public takeover and defense, and high-end corporate law, including group reorganizations and stock corporation law. He also has substantial experience advising on corporate governance matters, in particular on complex regulatory and compliance issues as well as special committee engagements.
“We are committed to further strengthening our strategic M&A practice in Germany to complement our existing strength in private equity,” said Oliver Felsenstein, Office Managing Partner of Latham & Watkins’ German offices. “Niko has established an outstanding track record for advising domestic and international companies on their most significant corporate matters and transactions, and his arrival will add further firepower to our growing German practice. We are thrilled that Niko has decided to join Latham.”
Harald Selzner, Global Co-chair of Latham & Watkins’ Mergers & Acquisitions Practice, said: “Niko is a hugely experienced advisor, with a prominent and active strategic M&A practice. He has rightfully earned a stellar reputation for his leadership skills, sharp commercial instincts and legal acumen. In a highly competitive environment, where transactions are subject to increased regulatory and investor scrutiny, Niko’s depth of experience will be of tremendous value to our corporate clients.”
“We are excited by the opportunities we see to develop market-leading strategic M&A practices in Europe and Asia to match our existing strength in the US,” adds Marc Jaffe, Chair of Latham’s Global Corporate Department. “Germany is a key market for the firm and is integral to the interests of many of our global clients. Niko’s wide-ranging experience advising on large transformational cross-border deals will further enhance our capability in Europe and globally.”
Paschos will be the latest high-profile M&A partner to join the firm in Europe over the last 12 months, following the arrival of Aldo Piccarreta in Milan, Ed Barnett in London and Rainer Traugott in Munich.
Paschos will join the firm from Linklaters’ Düsseldorf office. He received an LLM from Columbia University in 1993 and was admitted to the New York Bar in 1994, before undertaking his Referendariat at the Oberlandesgericht in 1998.
