Medical Malpractice Attorney Ronald M. Puntil, Jr. Returns to Marshall Dennehey’s Pittsburgh Office as a Shareholder in the Health Care Department

Experienced health care liability attorney, Ronald M. Puntil, Jr., has returned to Marshall Dennehey’s Pittsburgh office as a shareholder in the Health Care Department. Mr. Puntil previously worked at Marshall Dennehey from 2004 – 2016 before moving to the Pittsburgh office of Cipriani & Werner P.C.

Mr. Puntil has more than 30 years of medical malpractice litigation experience. He defends physicians, nursing homes, hospitals, and other health care providers in health care liability and malpractice matters. He is additionally experienced in the areas of employment law and workers’ compensation.

A seasoned trial attorney, he has taken approximately 100 trials to verdict, obtaining at least 90 defense verdicts. Several of the cases he has handled have resulted in verdicts or settlements significantly below the demands.

Among his seminal cases, Mr. Puntil obtained summary judgment on behalf of a methadone clinic in Stever v. Alliance Medical Services, Inc. In what is believed to be a case of first impression, the Pennsylvania Superior Court held that a methadone clinic holds no duty to injured third parties. This case has attracted regional and national attention in the health care liability community.

In 2020, Mr. Puntil was selected for the 13th time as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer in the area of medical malpractice personal injury defense. He is a member of the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County, as well as the Pennsylvania and Allegheny County Bar Associations.

A graduate of Villanova University and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, Mr. Puntil is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
