Premier civil litigation and insurance defense firm Tyson & Mendes LLP announced today the addition of Martin D. Stern as a partner in the firm’s Florida office to represent clients on medical malpractice, business and commercial litigation, and construction defect claims.
Mr. Stern has nearly 30 years of legal experience and has tried cases to verdict in both the federal and state court systems, representing clients in a wide variety of industries, such as banking, general finance, waste management, construction, and hospitality. He has successfully defended both large and small companies in wage and hour, coverage-B, personal injury, wrongful death, and environmental pollution claims, and has prevailed on motions for summary judgment addressing premises liability and personal injury claims. He is also frequently invited to present continuing legal education seminars on issues related to premises liability, indemnity, and non-delegable duties.

Mr. Stern joins Tyson & Mendes after serving as partner at Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP for more than 10 years. He also previously served as the director of the general liability department in the Ft. Lauderdale office of Kelley, Kronenberg, Gilmartin, Fichtel & Wander, P.A.
Active in the legal and insurance communities, Martin Stern holds many professional affiliations, including the Florida Bar, American Society of Pharmacy Law, Florida Bar Trial Lawyers Section, Broward County Trial Lawyers Association, South Florida Claims Association, Construction Association of South Florida, Defense Research Institute, Risk and Insurance Management Society, Inc., and the “Construction Underground” Networking Group in South Florida. He is also approved by the Florida Department of Financial Services to instruct continuing education classes for insurance adjusters and provide corporate training related to general lines of insurance and has conducted training for the Association of Property & Casualty Claims Professionals, Jacksonville Claims Association, South Florida Claims Association, and clients, among others.
A decorated veteran of the United States Air Force, Mr. Stern earned his Juris Doctor from Widener University School of Law and his bachelor’s degree from Florida Atlantic University. Upon graduating from law school, he passed the Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Florida bar exams. His is currently licensed to practice in Florida and holds the AV Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating for ethics and legal ability.
