Global law firm Dentons has expanded its International Arbitration practice in Germany with the recruitment of US-qualified partner Amy C. Kläsener. She joined the Frankfurt office along with an Associate on February 1, 2017. In her new role, she will cooperate closely with Dentons’ highly rated International Arbitration team, led in Europe by Jean-Christophe Honlet and Barton Legum.
Kläsener has extensive expertise in complex cross-border arbitrations with a special focus on engineering and construction and post-M&A. She also advises on compliance and internal investigations, including in relation to the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA).
Before joining Dentons, she was head of the International Arbitration team in Germany at Shearman & Sterling. Prior to that, she worked for Sullivan & Cromwell. In addition, Kläsener lectures at universities in Bonn and Frankfurt and speaks at conferences on arbitration issues.
Jean-Christophe Honlet, Head of Dentons‘ International Arbitration Group, said, “Germany is an export nation and an important center for international arbitration, where most international firms are currently under-represented. With her strong credentials, Amy will strengthen our practice in that important market.”
Andreas Ziegenhagen, Germany Managing Partner, commented “With her Common Law background and longstanding practical experience in Germany and Europe, Amy Kläsener is well positioned to advise our clients on arbitration issues in Germany and around the globe.”
Amy Kläsener said, “Dentons’ International Arbitration group has an excellent market reputation, and I look forward to using the Firm’s global platform to further develop the arbitration and compliance offering in Germany.”
Kläsener’s recruitment is another step forward in Dentons’ German growth plan. Dentons now employs more than 130 lawyers and professionals, including 44 partners, in its three offices in Germany, including 34 professionals in Frankfurt. The Firm recently announced the hire of IP partner Dr. Stefan Dittmer and Restructuring and Insolvency counsel Dr. Benjamin Kurzberg in Berlin, and Corporate partners Richard Fagerer and Simon Vogel as well as Counsel Dr. Tannaz Jourabchi-Eisenhut in Munich.
Dentons‘ International Arbitration Group is listed among the top international arbitration groups globally according to Global Arbitration Review (GAR). At the 2016 GAR Awards, Dentons was distinguished as the “highest riser“ among the GAR 30 top international arbitration law firms. It also recognized Dentons in 2016 for obtaining the “Most Important Arbitration Decision“ globally.
