Squire Patton Boggs has appointed private equity lawyer Sascha Konwalski as partner in its Corporate Practice in Frankfurt. Mr. Konwalski, who joins from Linklaters in Frankfurt, is the eighth private equity related senior appointment at Squire Patton Boggs in Europe since summer 2021 and his arrival marks a significant commitment to expand private equity and corporate work in Germany.
“The German market is an important element in our European strategy and international roll out,” said partner Paul Mann, head of the firm’s European Private Equity group. “We have a strong corporate team there and a successful private equity offering led by Fabio Borggreve. Now, Sascha’s experience and expertise will strengthen and help develop this growing market for us. Significantly increased client demand and multiple business opportunities have followed on from our previous expansions to the private equity practice in Madrid, Paris and Milan. In addition to referred work from elsewhere in Europe and the US, we anticipate further private equity work generated within Germany as a key part of the long-term development of our European corporate team.”
Horst Daniel, managing partner in Frankfurt, welcomed Mr. Konwalski to the office, saying: “This is an important expansion for us in Germany. Sascha has extensive knowledge of the cross-border PE market, with direct experience here in Germany and in the UK, which we believe will serve as a catalyst for the continued growth of our Corporate team in Frankfurt. As well as work for the corporate team, private equity mandates can generate work for banking, tax, employment and real estate, all of which we are well equipped and very experienced in handling for domestic and international investors across our German offices.”
Mr. Konwalski is a corporate lawyer focusing on private equity, mergers and acquisitions and capital markets. He advises several private equity funds and their portfolio companies, international companies and leading German investors on cross-border and multi-jurisdictional transactions. Mr. Konwalski joined Linklaters in London as an associate on their German Desk in 2004, returning to work in Frankfurt in 2007. He has experience leading on numerous cross-border private equity transactions in Germany and during his time in the UK.
Mr. Konwalski is a graduate in law from the Universities of Marburg and Cologne, he also holds an LL.M. from Queen Mary College, University of London.
“It’s an exciting prospect to be joining Squire Patton Boggs,” said Mr. Konwalski. “As well as joining an excellent Corporate team in Germany, I will be part of a strong global practice, with leading private equity and M&A experts, and an international network of German-speaking lawyers.”
Mr. Konwalski’s appointment in Frankfurt follows the recent hires of Arnaud Lafarge, Maxime Dequesne, Anthony Guillaume, Benjamin Marché and Charles Briand in Paris, Sara Belotti in Milan, and Teresa Zueco and a six-lawyer team in Madrid.
