King & Spalding has added a five-lawyer corporate and private equity team, led by partner Peter Memminger, to its Corporate, Finance & Investments (CFI) practice in Frankfurt. All join with Memminger from his former firm Bub Memminger & Partner
Memminger’s practice focuses on M&A, corporate and litigation work on behalf of private equity funds, family offices as well as large corporates. He has also represented clients on distressed M&A, restructuring, insolvency and ESG matters and acted both on the plaintiff and defendant side on various corporate disputes in Germany.
“Peter has a rich and diverse portfolio of high-level mandates across a number of important practice areas and key industries, which offers a genuinely holistic and pragmatic approach to clients’ legal requirements,” said Todd Holleman, head of King & Spalding’s CFI practice. “Peter also boasts a strong entrepreneurial spirit so will be able to contribute an amazing amount of drive and dedication to helping further develop our practice in the future.”
Memminger founded his own boutique firm in January 2017 which focuses on complex corporate and litigation matters. Prior to establishing his own firm, Memminger was a partner at Milbank. He is ranked in Chambers Europe, JUVE, IFLR and Best Lawyers.
“Peter is one of the brightest stars in the Frankfurt corporate legal market, with invaluable background in major international legal peers as well as first-hand knowledge of what it requires to build a firm from scratch in an intensely competitive market,” added Axel Schilder, office managing partner in Frankfurt. “Peter and his team have strong overlaps with many of our own skillsets, especially M&A, private equity and healthcare, so there will be exciting chances for collaboration ahead.”
Peter is complemented by his team consisting of a senior counsel, two counsels and one associate.
“King & Spalding has been one of the stand-out performers in the international legal market in recent years with a truly outstanding combination of top-notch transactional, disputes and regulatory excellence that has made it unique from its global competitors,” Memminger commented. “The team and I relish the opportunity to join a firm that blends market know-how with a collegial culture, and I am excited to spearhead our ambitious growth plans for the corporate department in Germany.”
