The Frankfurt office of global law firm K&L Gates LLP welcomes Karsten Seidel as a partner in the tax practice. Seidel joins K&L Gates from King & Wood Mallesons.
Seidel began his career at a law firm in Northern Germany before moving into the tax department of Ernst & Young and then into private practice at SJ Berwin, later King & Wood Mallesons, in Frankfurt in 2005.
Seidel advises entrepreneurs and wealthy private individuals on the legal and tax aspects of private wealth and estate planning, tax-optimized asset structures including trusts and foundations, and international issues. In addition, he has broad experience in the structuring and reorganization of real estate assets, with other key areas of his practice including the taxation of capital investments, tax litigation procedures, and penal proceedings for tax fraud following self-reporting.
Seidel arrives at K&L Gates along with two colleagues, associate Martina Weisheit and professional support lawyer Manuel Rustler. His addition reunites him with German partner Till Fock, who joined K&L Gates in 2014 and with whom Seidel worked for many years at their previous firm. This allows the pair to resume their collaboration in the areas of investment funds and investment tax law, and the firm to be further able to expand its global advisory services in this sector.
