International law firm McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Oliver K. Hahnelt, LL.M. as partner in the Firm’s Transactions practice group in Frankfurt. Dr. Hahnelt, who joined McDermott on 1 April, is the third partner appointed in Frankfurt this year. Since the beginning of the year, the Firm’s German practice welcomed four partners and two counsel in total.
Dr. Hahnelt focuses on providing advice on acquisition finance (leveraged buyouts, including recapitalizations), corporate finance (corporate lending) and structured finance. His clients include financial institutions, private equity and other investors, direct lending /debt funds and corporates.
Prior to joining McDermott, Dr. Hahnelt worked as counsel in the Frankfurt office of another international law firm where he led the refinancing of Scout24 Group, the financing of DuMont Media Group and the acquisition of Cherry Group. Additionally, he was a member of the management team that supported various financing engagements of Rantum Capital.

In January 2017, McDermott’s Frankfurt office welcomed Private Equity experts Dr. Michael Cziesla as partner and Norman Wasse as counsel. Tax law partner Markus Hill joined shortly after. In March 2017, the Firm’s Dusseldorf office was joined by Regulatory partner Dr. Alexa Ningelgen and Transactions counsel Dr Eva Schöneich.
