Paul Hastings LLP, a leading global law firm, announced today that Dr. Katja Kaulamo, a leading capital markets lawyer, has joined the firm as a partner, based in Frankfurt. She joins from Skadden. Her arrival adds further momentum to the firm’s strong growth and performance across its global platform this year, particularly in London and Frankfurt, which are instrumental to the firm’s European strategy. Paul Hastings continues to focus on investments in top-tier talent that will further strengthen its collaborative offering across Europe and between Europe and the U.S., as well as expand the depth of its global capital markets platform, particularly in global financial centers.
“Our clients look to us to advise them on the full range of complex corporate transactions to finance their business and power their growth around the world,” said Seth Zachary, Chairman of Paul Hastings. “The addition of Katja adds further depth to our leading global Securities & Capital Markets, Finance and Corporate practices, particularly given her impressive experience advising on a broad range of capital markets and M&A transactions and related regulatory matters, both across Europe and between Europe and the U.S.”
“Katja’s arrival strengthens our integrated corporate and particular private equity offering in Frankfurt. This also marks the first of several significant additions we anticipate in the coming months as we accelerate the ongoing growth of our practice in Germany in response to clients’ needs and the trends we are seeing in the market,” said Dr. Christopher Wolff, Chair of Paul Hastings’ Frankfurt office. “Katja’s extensive experience advising German companies on their listings in the U.S. capital markets as well as her high-yield skillset also open up significant opportunities for collaborating with our American and London colleagues to help guide our clients’ growth across borders.”
“I am excited to join Paul Hastings’ global team and have the opportunity to join forces with my new colleagues in Frankfurt, as well as in London, Paris and across the U.S.,” said Dr. Katja Kaulamo. “Together we will offer clients a compelling combination of local and international expertise covering the full range of corporate and corporate finance transactions, including equity capital markets as well as high-yield and leveraged finance – and write the next chapter in Paul Hastings’ impressive growth story.”
Dr. Kaulamo advises on a wide range of complex international corporate and capital markets transactions for top institutions, including investment banks like Goldman, JP Morgan and Bank of America, as well as private equity firms and large, sophisticated corporates. She has extensive experience with initial public offerings, capital increases, rights offerings, block trades and offerings of convertible and hybrid capital instruments, as well as investment grade and high-yield debt. Her practice also includes capital markets-related regulatory advice, corporate governance, public M&A transactions, and other corporate matters.
The global Capital Markets practice at Paul Hastings has advised on several landmark transactions in recent years, including US$5.5 billion of high-yield notes issued in connection with Altice USA, Inc.’s combination of Suddenlink and Optimum; Minera Mexico’s US$1 billion senior notes offering; representing Barclays, BBVA and other banks in Prime Health Services’ debut $700 million offering of senior secured notes; representing Jefferies, Deutsche Bank and Bank of America in The Providence Service Corporation’s debut US$500 million notes offering to finance the acquisition of the Simplura Group; representing Goldman and Morgan Stanley in Accolade’s US$220 million IPO; representing Citigroup and other banks in Blackstone Mortgage Trust’s follow-on public offering of class A common stock; and Ascletis Pharma’s US$400 million IPO – the first listing under Chapter 18A of the listing rules in Hong Kong.
