McDermott’s Double Hire in Germany for Corporate and Energy

International law firm McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce the arrival of two new partners to its Dusseldorf and Munich offices. These appointments bring the total number of lawyers in Europe to more than 120 lawyers.

Dr. Michael Ruoff joined the Firm on the 1st of October 2011 as partner and head of the German energy practice in the Munich office. His practice is focused on renewable energy projects, transactions and related regulatory aspects. Before his arrival at the Firm, Michael was a partner of a German project development company and managed the structuring and realization of a 13 MWp photovoltaic power plant in Italy.  Michael was also previously partner in the Munich office of international law firm Watson, Farley & Williams.
Dr. Holger Weiss also joined the Firm on the 1st of October 2011 as a corporate and real estate partner in the Düsseldorf office. He specializes in advising and structuring complex real estate transactions (asset and share deals), their (re-)financing as well as the law of commercial tenancy.  His practice also includes extensive experience in joint ventures, closed-end real estate funds, IPOs and acquisition/sale of participations in companies. Before joining the Firm, Holger worked for seven years as a lawyer in the Cologne office of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP in their real estate department.
