Field Fisher Waterhouse announces today the appointment of litigation partner Sibylle Schumacher. She will be joining the Munich office on 1st November from Weil Gotshal Manges LLP where she has headed the litigation practice since 2009.

Sibylle focuses on national and international arbitration proceedings, civil litigation and compliance projects (including civil and criminal law matters). She has acted for renowned companies in ICC and DIS arbitration proceedings and has advised investors on asserting their legal rights. Before joining Weil Gotshal Manges, Sibylle worked for Beiten Burkhard and was involved in proceedings of the Federal Republic of Germany against Toll Collect, Deutsche Telekom and Daimler Chrysler in the context of loss of revenues, fines and the transfer of intellectual property rights. She started out her career working for Clifford Chance in 2001.

“Sibylle Schumacher is an experienced litigator whose expertise and experience will boost and broaden our existing litigation and arbitration proceedings practice, moving it beyond intellectual property matters to include other areas as well”, says Dr Joachim Feldges, Managing Partner of Field Fisher Waterhouse in Germany. “Furthermore, her compliance expertise adds to the practical experience that we have gained in relation to the anti-bribery provisions of the FCTPA and will allow us to comprehensively represent clients jointly with our London office in relation to the Bribery Act.” He also stressed that Field Fisher Waterhouse will continue to focus on highly-qualified lateral hires in Germany in order to boost the range of services in disciplines that are relevant for the firm’s clients.

Field Fisher Waterhouse opened its first German office in Hamburg in 2007 and expanded its German practice by integrating two former Howrey offices in Munich and Dusseldorf in March this year. The firm has now 27 lawyers in Germany, including 13 partners.
