Magnusson Expands to Germany with Berlin Office Launch

The Baltic Sea Region Law Firm Magnusson announces the launch of a new office in Berlin by hiring Mannheimer Swartling partner Dr Thomas Kaiser-Stockmann to lead the new team, effective as of March 2013.

Magnusson provides integrated, seamless services throughout the Baltic Sea Region. With the launch of a new office in Berlin, Magnusson is further expanding into this area.

The main focus of the office will initially be corporate, M&A, real estate as well as banking and finance. Magnusson Berlin will be managed by highly regarded Dr Thomas Kaiser-Stockmann, who joins from Mannheimer Swartling, where he founded its Berlin base back in 1992.

Thomas’ practice spans over twenty years and includes real estate, corporate and M&A work, with particular focus on advising Nordic clients on their work in Germany and Central Europe. In addition to being a German attorney-at-law (Rechtsanwalt), Thomas is also a notary public.

The Berlin launch is a clear reflection of Magnusson’s ongoing dynamic growth. After the launch of the Helsinki and Malmö offices in March 2011 and January 2012 respectively, Magnusson expanded into the Baltic States in April 2012 (Tallinn) and October 2012 (Riga), and launched an associated office in Oslo in August 2012.

This bold expansion has recently been recognised by the jury of The British Legal Awards. In November 2012, Magnusson won the coveted European Law Firm of the Year Award at the British Legal Awards 2012. No other law firm from the Baltic Sea Region has ever won the European Law Firm of the Year award.

“With the launch in Berlin, we continue our strategic drive into key markets across the Baltic Sea Region. The arrival of Thomas significantly bolsters our ability to deliver seamless services to our Nordic and Baltic clients doing business in Germany as well as leading German companies,” said Per Magnusson, Senior Partner.

Commenting on the announcement, Dr Thomas Kaiser-Stockmann said: “I am very much looking forward to joining a very dynamic, award-winning, pan-regional player that offers unique cross-border capabilities across the Baltic Sea Region, and a place where I can fully integrate my international networks”.
