Nancy Kierstyn Schreiner Joins Anderson Kill’s California Office, Will Head Government Affairs Group

Nancy Kierstyn Schreiner has joined Anderson Kill California, LLP, the west coast office of Anderson Kill & Olick, P.C., as a shareholder and will chair the firm’s new Government Affairs Group.

A former Assistant Attorney for the City of Thousand Oaks, California, Ms. Schreiner represents corporations, landowners, developers, nonprofits and public agencies in a wide variety of regulatory, compliance, zoning, employment and contractual matters. She comes to Anderson Kill from Nordman Cormany Hair & Compton LLP, where she was a Senior Partner and Chair of the Real Estate and Land Use Group and Public Law Group.

Ms. Schreiner negotiates and documents a full spectrum of transactions on behalf of her private and public sector clients, including corporate and real estate purchases and sales, exchanges, commercial, industrial, office and agricultural leases, and construction and permanent financing devices. She is well versed in land use and CEQA/NEPA matters regarding the development and subdivision of real property, and represents clients before local, regional, state and federal planning and permitting agencies.

Ms. Schreiner serves as General Counsel and legal counsel to a number of public entities and non-profit organizations. Drawing on her 15 years of experience in the City of Thousand Oaks City Attorney’s Office she counsels her public interest clients on matters including land use, zoning, environmental law, employment and labor negotiations, redevelopment, special districts, financing, Mello-Roos, constitutional matters, telecommunications, public contracting, conflicts of interest, public meeting laws, disabled access, bankruptcy and risk management, County Organized Health Systems and Medi-Cal laws and regulations.

Ms. Schreiner has negotiated contracts with performers and artists as well as addressing licensing, and artists’ rights in their written materials and artwork. She has negotiated and drafted development agreements, solid waste franchise agreements, cable and telecommunication franchise agreements, and wireless telecommunication agreements for both public entities and private property owners.

Prior to her work for the Thousand Oaks, Ms. Schreiner was Corporate Counsel for Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Company. Her duties included representation of the company’s real estate brokerage, escrow, mortgage and title divisions in contract development, training, and all phases of litigation. She also represented 65 financial institutions and the FDIC and FSLIC. “Nancy’s extensive background in business, finance and real property provides her with keen insight and out of the box solutions to her client’s needs,” said Mr. Bender.

Since 1988, Ms. Kierstyn Schreiner has been a member of the Ventura County Bar Association and Tri-Counties Local Government Attorneys’ Association, where she has held the office of President, Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer on several occasions. She serves as General Counsel for Economic Development Collaborative of Ventura County and as Chair of the Oxnard Chamber of Commerce, and member of the Chamber’s Land Use Subcommittee. Ms. Schreiner also conducts pro bono seminars addressing Disabled Access Defense for Business and Property Owners and how to develop barrier removal plans.

Ms Schreiner is admitted to practice in California. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Irvine and a Juris Doctorate from Pepperdine University School of Law.
