The global law firm Jones Day is pleased to announce the appointment of Johan Kleyn as a Mergers & Acquisitions partner in the Firm’s Amsterdam Office. Mr. Kleyn comes to the Firm from Allen & Overy. In addition, the Amsterdam Office welcomes Gerjanne te Winkel and Floris Pierik as of counsel in the Global Disputes and Mergers & Acquisitions practices, respectively.
Mr. Kleyn will focus his practice on corporate matters with an emphasis on takeovers, corporate litigation, and board room counseling. He has practiced in London and New York as well as in Amsterdam, and he has been in the lead of many major Dutch and international transactions, including hostile takeovers. Mr. Kleyn has been described in Chambers as “a very creative driving force” and frequently has been nominated in the publication Mergers & Acquisitions as one of the three best M&A lawyers in the Netherlands. Mr. Kleyn is a frequent speaker at conferences on topics relating to his area of focus.

Ms. te Winkel is a well-regarded litigator with 25 years of experience in corporate and commercial litigation and arbitration. Her practice includes corporate litigation, professional liability, director’s liability, and M&A disputes. Ms. te Winkel also has an important practice in accountants’ liability matters both on the plaintiff’s and on the defendant’s side. She speaks frequently on civil and corporate litigation issues. Ms. te Winkel has a record of outstanding quality and will play an important role in developing a premier litigation practice for Jones Day in the Netherlands.
Mr. Pierik is an experienced M&A lawyer. His broad based transactional and corporate advisory practice includes domestic and cross-border public and private M&A. His experience ranges from multijurisdictional contentious takeover scenarios to complex private equity and venture capital transactions.
