Addleshaw Goddard Makes Partner Appointment in Restructuring

Addleshaw Goddard has announced the appointment of restructuring expert Simon Thomas to its Business Support and Restructuring (BSR) team in London. The hire is part of the firm’s strategy to strengthen its restructuring practice and broaden its banking offering with existing clients.

Simon joins Addleshaw Goddard from BLP where he focused on all aspects of corporate financial distress. He was recently named by Thomson Reuters as a ‘Rising Star’ in its Super Lawyers publication for his advice in the banking sector. He has particular expertise in real estate restructuring and advises on partially completed developments, mixed use schemes, leisure portfolios, hotels and care homes. Simon also has expertise in shipping, aviation, retail and telecommunications restructurings. Simon’s clients include purchasers of distressed portfolios and lenders on debt sales.

Simon joined the firm on 20 June and will sit in the Finance and Projects division which currently acts for all of the major UK banks, 40 of the 60 building societies nationwide, and a large number of foreign banks.

Addleshaw Goddard’s Finance & Projects Division comprises 41 partners and over 100 other fee earners across its three UK offices in London, Leeds and Manchester and international offices in Doha, Muscat and Dubai. The team provides advice on the full range of financial issues including restructuring and insolvency, real estate finance, corporate banking, bank lending, leveraged finance, projects/infrastructure finance, social housing finance, asset finance, asset based lending, securitisation/structured finance and capital markets and derivatives.

The BSR team is made up of 10 partners and over 30 other fee earners.
