Renowned Tax Adviser Alexander Hemmelrath Joins Norton Rose Fulbright as Partner

Global legal practice Norton Rose Fulbright is pleased to announce that Prof. Dr. Alexander Hemmelrath will join the practice’s German offices as a partner, effective July 1, 2013.

Alexander Hemmelrath is one of Germany’s leading tax law advisers. He will expand Norton Rose Fulbright’s global client offering in company reorganisations and M&A, in international tax law and tax structuring. Alexander’s hire will add strength to the further development of Norton Rose Fulbright’s tax practice locally and worldwide, further reinforcing its role as a driver for related practice areas.

Alexander Hemmelrath has advised clients in corporate and tax for more than 30 years, focussing on cross-border investments, company reorganisations, succession planning as well as on professional and private tax structuring decisions of companies, managing directors, executive and supervisory board members. He is a member of the tax committee of the Munich Chamber of Commerce, an honorary member of the Germany-wide association for family businesses, die Familienunternehmer – ASU e.V., active in the economic advisory council of the “Union” (Bavaria’s political party CSU), as well as a member of several supervisory boards and panels. Further, Alexander Hemmelrath was appointed honorary professor for tax law at the University of Osnabrück.

Norton Rose Fulbright’s German corporate team includes over 60 lawyers, of which 15 are partners. The German tax team consists of 18 lawyers, four of which are partners. After the recent combination of Norton Rose and US-based Fulbright & Jaworski LLP, Norton Rose Fulbright now has more than 150 tax fee earners globally. In Germany, the practice was recently nominated as “Legal practice of the year in tax law” at the 2012 JUVE Awards.
