Stephenson Harwood Hires Asset Finance Partner

International law firm Stephenson Harwood LLP has appointed Lisa Marks as an asset finance partner in London. Lisa joins from Berwin Leighton Paisner, where she has been a partner in the finance practice for eight years. Prior to this, Lisa was a partner in the finance team at Denton Wilde Sapte.

Lisa is a leasing and asset finance specialist, with particular expertise in receivables, operating leases and asset-backed lending, often with a cross-border or project finance element. Her clients include banks and financial institutions, and much of her recent work has concentrated on finance agreements for rolling stock, data centre equipment, medical equipment and aircraft.

Examples of recent work include acting for The Royal Bank of Scotland in connection with the bank’s ownership and leasing of Voyager trains; acting for Deutsche Bank in relation to the loan facilities to finance the construction of two data halls and acting for Summit Asset Finance/SQN in relation to the financing of the construction of an anaerobic digestive plant.

Commenting on Lisa’s appointment, Mark Russell, head of the finance practice at law firm Stephenson Harwood, said: “Lisa’s 25 years of experience in leasing and asset finance and her understanding of the changes that have affected the industry during this time, will add valuable expertise to Stephenson Harwood’s strength in transport and asset finance and their related fields.”

Last year, Lisa was appointed Governor of The Leasing Foundation, an organization supported by all the key banks and financial institutions involved in asset finance. She is the first lawyer to hold this post.
