Krieg DeVault, a full-service business and corporate law firm, is pleased to announce that Darrick J. Hooker has joined the firm’s growing Chicago office as a Partner. Mr. Hooker marks the fourth attorney to join the firm’s Chicago office in less than a month. He is a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property and Technology and Intellectual Property Litigation Practices.
Mr. Hooker teams up with a nationally recognized 23-member intellectual property practice at Krieg DeVault, representing and counseling a multitude of national and international clients. He will focus his practice on a variety of intellectual property issues, including patent litigation and counseling relating to litigation, as well as trademark and copyright issues. He has extensive experience litigating both jury and non-jury cases encompassing a broad spectrum of technologies, including medical devices, pharmaceuticals, chemical compositions and processes, and mechanical devices. In addition, he regularly counsels clients on the procurement and enforcement of patents, trademarks, and copyrights, including risk assessment, licensing, and “freedom to practice” analyses of products, methods, and packaging. He also advises clients on entertainment matters, including licensing and branding issues.
Mr. Hooker will assist in growing Krieg DeVault’s Intellectual Property Practice in Chicago. “We are pleased to have Darrick join the Chicago office to grow his IP litigation practice,” said Randall R. Fearnow, Executive Partner in charge of the firm’s Chicago office. “His knowledge and experience in working with pharmaceutical and medical device clients will dovetail nicely with our established health care regulatory practice.”
Additionally, Alastair J. Warr, Partner and Chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation Practice added, “Darrick expands the scope of our IP litigation capabilities into the Chicago market and brings valuable experience to our group.”
Mr. Hooker is active in the Chicago community where he is a Fellow of Leadership Greater Chicago (LGC). Additionally, he serves on the Board of Directors for Free Spirit Media, Institute for Science, Education & Technology, and The Firehouse Community Arts Center. He is a member of the Chicago and American Bar Associations, and a Scholarship Committee member of the Black Entertainment and Sports Lawyer Association (BESLA).
He is admitted to practice in the State of Illinois as well as before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
