McCarter & English Expands Labor and Employment Practice in Stamford

McCarter & English, LLP is pleased to announce two new attorneys with the firm’s labor and employment law practice. Craig Bonnist joins as a partner, and Barbara Curtis as an associate, in the firm’s Stamford office. They worked together previously at Bonnist & Cutro, LLP. In addition to continuing their practices in New York and New Jersey, Bonnist is actively expanding the firm’s labor and employment group in the Fairfield County region.

Bonnist has more than 20 years of experience representing management and individuals in a wide range of employment disputes. In addition to litigating before federal and state trial and appellate courts, he appears before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and state and local discrimination agencies, and also litigates arbitrations before FINRA, JAMS and the AAA. Curtis is an experienced trial attorney who has litigated successfully in state and federal courts. She also provides onsite supervisor and employee training to clients in areas including sexual harassment, employment discrimination, and diversity.

“We are very excited to welcome both Craig and Barbara to our expanding regional practice,” said Pamela Moore, head of McCarter’s labor and employment law practice. “Their impressive litigation record will help our clients navigate the complexities of compliance issues that arise with new areas of employment law, across multiple industries.”

Bonnist currently serves as a Co-Chair of the Westchester County Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Section. He has been a quoted source on employment law topics, including as a guest on CNBC, and is a presenter for various Continuing Legal Education programs. Bonnist earned his J.D. from American University and his B.A. from Lafayette College in economics and business.

Curtis, a former Assistant District Attorney for Bronx County, has also spent time at the Office of the Corporation Counsel for the City of New York in the Special Federal Litigation Bureau, before moving into the private sector. She is an adjunct professor of labor law at Iona College’s Hagan School of Business. Curtis earned her J.D. from Pace University School of Law and her B.A. from the University of Massachusetts.

“Craig and Barbara will be an asset to our growing client base of Fortune 500 companies that are headquartered or have a significant presence in Stamford,” said Basam Nabulsi, managing partner of the firm’s Stamford office. “They will be an instrumental part of our interdisciplinary team approach.”
