Hanson Bridgett Welcomes Two New Partners

Hanson Bridgett LLP is pleased to welcome two new partners to its ranks, Robert A. McFarlane and William E. Adams. Rob is a registered patent attorney whose practice will focus on patent litigation and intellectual property disputes, and Bill’s practice will focus on complex business disputes. Rob will be based in San Francisco and Bill in the firm’s recently opened Walnut Creek office.

Both attorneys bring a wealth of experience to Hanson Bridgett. Bill represents clients in state and federal court proceedings, binding and non-binding arbitration and mediation. Notably, he recovered millions in compensation for a Fortune 500 company in a jury trial against an energy company. Rob advocates on behalf of his clients in courts throughout the country in cases involving a wide range of technologies including semiconductors, optics and optoelectronics, software, and telecommunications.
“Hanson Bridgett continues to attract known talent as we grow to meet client demands,” said Andrew Giacomini, Hanson Bridgett LLP Managing Partner. “Bill and Rob are both well-respected and accomplished practitioners; we look forward to benefiting from their knowledge and experience.”
Rob spent the majority of his career prior to joining the firm as a patent litigator at Townsend and Townsend and Crew LLP and was most recently with Caroll, Burdick & McDonough LLP. He has his B.A.S. from Stanford University and his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law (1994). Rob teaches patent law as an adjunct professor at Golden Gate University School of Law. Prior to joining Hanson Bridgett, Bill was with Abbott Fitzgerald and Beardsley. He has his B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley and his J.D. from Pepperdine University School of Law (1990). Bill serves as a judge pro tem for Santa Clara Superior Court and a judicial arbitrator for Alameda Superior Court.
Today’s news comes on the heels of several growth announcements for the firm this year including a new office opening in Walnut Creek, and the addition of several partners to firm ranks.
