Leading Philadelphia Trial Attorney Mark Levy Joins Eckert Seamans

Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott, LLC, a full-service national law firm, announced today that Mark C. Levy has joined the firm’s Philadelphia office as a Member in the Litigation Division. Levy comes to Eckert Seamans from Saul Ewing LLP, where he was also a Partner and a Chair of its Life Sciences Practice Group. He concentrates his practice in product liability, commercial litigation, risk management and white collar criminal defense.

“Mark’s depth of experience in a wide range of litigation matters, particularly those relating to product liability, is the perfect complement to our existing practice,” said Philadelphia office Member-in-Charge Albert G. Bixler. “His more than 25 years of formidable litigation and trial experience bring instant momentum, which will serve the firm and our office well as we continue to expand our capabilities for clients.”
Levy has represented Fortune 500 companies in complex commercial litigation in state and federal forums across the country. From medical device firms, pharmaceutical manufacturers and healthcare providers to industrial manufacturers of farm equipment and oil refiners and producers, he has handled a wide variety of statutory and common law claims at the pre-claim, trial and appellate stages of litigation. Levy’s experience in the courtroom ranges from defense verdicts in favor of multinational product manufacturers to a jury verdict in favor of a prominent civil rights attorney charged with legal malpractice. He also regularly provides risk-management advice to businesses that manufacture and sell products for consumer use, which includes developing, expanding, and implementing corporate compliance programs in highly regulated environments, conducting internal investigations, advising on product recalls, evaluating loss exposure to toxic tort litigation, and assessing the risks of litigation costs in complex, multi-party litigation. Levy’s interest in risk management and corporate defense began prior to his joining private practice, when he was the lead paralegal for Ford Motor Company in the civil and criminal defense of Ford arising from alleged product defects in the Ford Pinto automobile. Additionally, corporations charged with violations of federal criminal law often turn to him for guidance. Levy has handled investigations into alleged government procurement fraud, healthcare fraud, violations of the Food Drug and Cosmetic Act, and environmental crimes. A former professional soccer player and elite rower, he continues to represent athletes in controversies arising from the oversight by the governing bodies of several sports and sporting events, including the NCAA and the United States Olympic Committee. Levy earned his J.D. from the Villanova University School of Law and his undergraduate degree from Wesleyan University.
