Covington Advises Armani on New Franchise Agreement

Covington & Burling advised Giorgio Armani in a deal to terminate its existing joint venture and store lease arrangement in India with DLF Retail Brands. As a result of the termination, Armani will enter into a new franchise arrangement with Genesis Luxury Fashion Pvt. Ltd.

Under the terms of the agreement, all assets of DLF Retail Brands were transferred to Genesis Luxury, to ensure continuity of the operation of existing stores in India.
The Armani Group is one of the leading fashion and luxury goods groups in the world. It designs, manufactures, distributes and retails fashion and lifestyle products including apparel, accessories, eyewear, watches, jewelry, fragrances and cosmetics, and home furnishings under a range of brand names. Genesis Luxury Fashion Pvt. Ltd. engages in the marketing and distribution of apparel and accessories for men and women in India.
