A recently opened law office in the nation’s capital established a Washington legal job for a veteran attorney in the District, according to a published report.
Gregory Smith started with Allen & Overy on April 20 and his practice focuses on infrastructure projects, especially in emerging markets, according to Legal Week. Specifically, he works on development, financing and privatization issues and projects.
The Allen & Overy office in D.C. has been open since June of last year.
Smith left the Washington office of Dewey & LeBoeuf, where he served as a project finance partner. A Dewey & LeBoeuf spokesman did not comment on the matter while a statement issued to the publication by Allen & Overy verified Smith’s attorney recruitment.
Allen & Overy operates offices in 27 nations throughout the world, with one other U.S. office in New York.
More than 70 partners have left Dewey & LeBoeuf thus far this year, the publication reports.
The Wall Street Journal reports Dewey & LeBoeuf is heavily in debt and is considering a merger with Greenberg Traurig while also subleasing an executive floor of its Manhattan headquarters.
