International law firm Davis Polk has hired a new attorney to serve as a partner for a London legal job.

International law firm Davis Polk has hired on a new attorney to serve as a partner for a London legal job, according to a press release distributed by the firm.

Jonathan Cooklin will work to continue developing a highly-regarded law team with efforts toward bettering prospects in Hong Kong and Sao Paulo. He joins Simon Witty, who is a leader in London capital markets practices.

“Jonathan is another exceptional addition to our growing English law practice,” managing partner Thomas J. Reid said, noting the legal recruitment is likely to deliver strong results. “Along with Simon and our team of outstanding partners in London, Jonathan’s tax expertise will help drive the expansion of our English law capabilities, both with additional strategic lateral hires and through the development of our own highly talented English-law-qualified lawyers.”

Cooklin’s U.K. tax planning and corporate credentials and experience are projected to tighten the firm’s stature as advisors for English law pertaining to companies’ pursuits of transactions both within Great Britain and other worldwide locales.
