SH Boosts IP Practice with New Partner Hire

International law firm Stephenson Harwood has boosted its intellectual property practice with the partner hire of Alexandra Pygall. Alexandra joins from Covington & Burling LLP where she was a senior associate. Prior to that she was at Clifford Chance LLP for nearly ten years. Alexandra has a wide range of experience in IP matters, both contentious and non-contentious, across all IP rights – patents, trade marks, design rights and copyright – and associated rights in confidential information (including know-how and trade secrets). She has particular expertise in the life sciences, luxury brands and financial services sectors.

Alexandra’s non-contentious experience includes advising clients on the IP aspects of mergers, acquisitions and strategic investments, and on their licensing, partnering, collaboration and other strategic IP agreements. Her contentious experience includes advising clients in relation to disputes regarding IP entitlement, infringement and validity, and breach of contract. In addition to traditional IP work, she also has experience in commercial transactions in which intellectual property rights are of paramount importance, including agreements regarding technology transfer, distribution, and manufacture.
Alexandra’s sector experience includes life sciences, consumer brands (with a special focus on luxury brands), financial services, energy, technology, industrials and private equity. She has degrees in law and chemistry and as a result has particular interest in IP matters with a scientific element.
Eifion Morris, intellectual property partner at Stephenson Harwood commented: “The appointment of Alexandra enhances our ability to attract new business as well as service our existing international clients including household brands in the energy, transport, media, luxury brands, life sciences, and financial services sectors. Alexandra’s extensive experience in these areas will complement our existing capabilities and enhance our ability to achieve further growth.”
Alexandra worked alongside Eifion Morris at Clifford Chance from 2005 until he joined Stephenson Harwood in 2008. She joins a team of seven lawyers which advises on all issues arising from the protection, exploitation and enforcement of the full range of intellectual property rights. The team is ranked in Legal 500 2010 and in Chambers UK 2011.
