McDermott Paris Office Expands With New Partner Arrival

International law firm McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce the arrival of a new partner at its rapidly growing Paris office. As the office today celebrates its first anniversary, this new arrival strengthens the Firm’s capabilities in the areas of public law and competition law.

Sabine Naugès joins the Paris office as a partner in charge of the Regulatory Practice Group. Sabine’s practice focuses on administrative and regulatory law, including in the sectors of telecommunications, health and energy. Prior to joining McDermott, Sabine was with the Paris office of Weil Gotshal & Manges and spent three years as an in-house counsel at France Telecom. She holds a Master’s degree, a  DEA and a Ph.D. in Public Law from the University of Paris Pantheon-Sorbonne, as well as an LL.M. in Law and Government from the American University Washington College of Law.
“We are delighted to welcome Sabine to the Firm,” said Jacques Buhart, partner-in-charge of the Firm’s Paris office. “The expansion of the Paris office is key to achieving McDermott’s strategy of being able to give high quality advice to multinational corporate clients in the major economies in which they conduct their business. To implement this principle, additional lawyers  coming from prestigious international firms will join us in the coming days.”
“Sabine’s arrival brings strong regulatory and public law credentials to a practice which is growing from strength to strength in the French market,” said Ray Jacobsen, partner and head of the Firm’s Regulatory & Governmental Affairs Business Unit. “Her wealth of experience in advising international and French clients on regulatory, competition and litigation matters makes her a very valuable asset to our clients.”
Today’s announcement comes during a period of strategic growth in Europe for McDermott.  In recent months, the Firm has moved aggressively to expand its international transactional capabilities, with a focus on private equity, energy and cross-border M&A. Most recently, McDermott announced the hiring of private equity partners Mark Davis and Russell Van Praagh in London, corporate partner Giovanni Nicchiniello in Milan, international arbitration partner Jacob Grierson in Paris, intellectual property partner Alexander Harguth in Munich, corporate and real estate partner Holger Weiss in Düsseldorf and energy partner Michael Ruoff in Munich.
