Jagla Joins Lane Powell’s Intellectual Property and Technology Group

Frances M. Jagla has joined Lane Powell as a shareholder in the Intellectual Property and Technology Practice Group, where she focuses her practice on trademark, copyright, Internet domain name matters and unfair competition counseling.  She has extensive U.S. and international experience in name development, clearance filing, registration, maintenance and enforcement of trademarks and copyrights for Fortune 100 companies.  Jagla possesses in-depth knowledge of trademark-related acquisitions, divestitures, licensing, Internet domain name matters and regulatory issues relating to healthcare trademarks.

Prior to joining Lane Powell, Jagla served as counsel to Leydig, Voit & Mayer Ltd.  In addition, she previously led the trademark practice at Abbott Laboratories, where she was responsible for the trademark strategies behind several healthcare products including HUMIRA, KALETRA, NORVIR and BIAXIN, and was instrumental in the trademark development for the spin-off of the medical device business into HOSPIRA.  She was also Senior Lead Attorney for trademarks at Microsoft Corporation during its development and launch of Windows Vista and Microsoft Office 2007.  Jagla was the founding member of the Law Office of Frances M. Jagla, PLLC, where she worked with pharmaceutical companies who were encountering difficulties with FDA and EMEA approval of their new brands, USAN and INN designations.
Jagla earned her J.D. from Valparaiso University School of Law and her B.A. in Political Science from Indiana University.
