McAndrews, Held & Malloy announced today that Christopher P. Singer joined the firm as a partner, and Timothy Long joined as a patent agent. These new additions reinforce McAndrews’ industry-leading intellectual property and complex technology law capabilities, particularly within the firm’s life sciences practice.

Christopher P. Singer has twelve years of experience counseling clients ranging from inventors and start-ups to universities and global corporations. He concentrates his practice on domestic and foreign patent prosecution, due diligence and opinion work in areas that include biochemistry, molecular and cell biology, immunology, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, diagnostic systems and methods, nanotechnology, chemistry, energy generation, personalized medicine, coating and cleaning formulations, and mechanical devices. He earned his J.D. from The John Marshall Law School, his M.S. and Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Chemistry from Northwestern University, and his B.A. in Chemistry from Kalamazoo College. Before joining McAndrews, Dr. Singer worked within the intellectual property practice group of a general practice firm’s Chicago office.
Timothy Long focuses on prosecuting domestic and foreign patents for pharmaceutical, biomedical, and organic and inorganic chemical products, and material science-based applications. He also provides guidance and support for drafting freedom-to-operate, patentability, non-infringement, ANDA and invalidity/validity opinion letters. Long received his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his B.A. in Chemistry and Integrated Science from Northwestern University. He is currently working on completing his J.D. at the Chicago-Kent College of Law. Long joined McAndrews from another IP firm’s Chicago office.
