Shook, Hardy & Bacon announced today that William A. Yoder has rejoined the firm’s Washington, D.C. office as a partner in the Global Product Liability Practice.
Yoder rejoins the firm after serving as Assistant General Counsel for Altria Client Services Inc., where he managed and developed defense strategies for litigation filed against the company in federal and state courts across the country. Before joining Altria Client Services in 2007, Yoder was a partner in Shook’s product liability practice group.
“We are pleased to welcome William back to the firm’s Global Product Liability Practice,” SHB Chair John Murphy said. “William left our firm as an experienced trial lawyer, and he returns with an equally valuable understanding of how law firms can improve the support they provide to in-house legal teams as they execute on strategies that meet their legal and business needs.”
Yoder’s litigation experience includes the successful defense of diverse claims ranging from negligence, fraud, design defect, conspiracy, professional malpractice, and strict liability to tortious interference, unfair trade practices and construction-related design/delay allegations. He has handled a wide array of complex civil disputes in various venues, including contract disputes involving architect/engineering firms with projects throughout the world.
Yoder received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1996, where he served as senior editor of the Journal of Law & Politics, and his bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas. He is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, Kansas and Missouri.
