Environmental and Agribusiness Attorney David L. Cook Joins LeClairRyan

David L. Cook has joined the law firm of LeClairRyan as a shareholder on the Business Litigation and Environmental Practice Area Teams. He will be resident in the national law firm’s Rochester office.

Cook has a broad range of litigation experience that includes handling matters involving commercial and real estate litigation, environmental, agribusiness, labor and employment matters, and personal injury cases. His commercial, environmental and real estate litigation practice includes insurance coverage, zoning and land use, eminent domain, landlord/tenant disputes, real estate contract disputes, toxic torts, and construction. Cook has handled cases in jurisdictions throughout New York as well as in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, Idaho, Utah, Iowa and Connecticut.

Cook has also represented a wide range of corporate clients in proceedings before the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and state equivalents throughout the country. This representation has involved both individual and joint representation of Potentially Responsible Party (PRP) groups as “common counsel.” He has been lead counsel in providing comments to major regulatory proposals by both EPA and New York State under the Clean Water Act and Clean Air Act.

Finally, he has been recognized as one of the leading agribusiness lawyers in New York. Cook has been involved with nearly every major enforcement action brought by Federal and State regulators against agricultural operations in the state. He represents major dairy and other agricultural operations throughout the Northeast.

He is a graduate of Weber State University and Brigham Young University and is admitted to practice in New York.
